Marc Turner Demonstration.

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming guest artist Marc Turner to the club for an inspiring oil painting demonstration featuring the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. Marc showcased his technique on a sheet of aluminum, which he had prepped in advance with a gesso base.

To begin, he applied a light yellow underpainting, setting the tone for the composition. He then skillfully built up the sky and its reflections, establishing a clear horizon line to anchor the scene. Using a sponge brush, Marc painted the distant skyscrapers, cleverly removing paint to suggest the appearance of illuminated windows. Finally, he brought the piece to life by adding intricate details to the Brooklyn Bridge, capturing its grandeur and architectural beauty.

The demonstration provided an insightful look into Marc’s process, leaving us all inspired by his expertise in oil painting.

Below are the stages in his painting.
